Stoplight Parrotfish
Sparisoma viride

Parrotfish have specially designed teeth that can pulverize coral.  They grind down the outer layers of the concrete-like coral in order to feed of the corals and algae that comprise the reef.

Sea Facts:

As apex predators, sharks play a vital role in ocean ecology. As many as 100 million sharks are killed each year for their meat and fins, which are used for shark fin soup.
